Job Details
Purpose
Manage security functions related to personnel security, document control information safeguarding and provide other program support for the Industrial Security Program and the Facility Security Officer for Applied Research Laboratories for Document Control and Personnel Security.
Responsibilities
- Assist with changing combos and maintaining records for safes, controlled access rooms and closed rooms.
- Destruction of classified material and ensure appropriate accountability records, receipts and databases are updated and stored to reflect material disposition.
- Prepare classified mailings by retrieving all necessary information from custodian. Wrap and package material. Prepare receipts and appropriate labels based on method of delivery.
- Prepare documents for classified media being hand-carried between laboratory facilities and to other cleared facilities. Provide classified courier training for and issue appropriate courier credentials to lab employees as required.
- Record/Maintain Mail Out/Hand-Carry records in central database/system of record.
- Responsible for tracking, bar coding, inventory, marking, storing classified material, to include paper documents, hardware items, CDs and DVDs. Manage annual 100% classified inventory requirements and report results to DCSA through FSO as specified.
- Appointed as Alternate Responsible Media Accountability Officer. Responsible for accurate optical media ordering, labeling, distribution, training, accountability, tracking, destruction and documentation of CUI and unclassified CDs, DVDs, BRDs and special category optical media in accordance with ARL:UT instructions.
- Receive, action and manage Service Now ticketing system for optical media orders by lab custodians.
- Destruction of unclassified but sensitive material and ensure appropriate accountability records are updated and stored to reflect material disposition.
- Serve as alternate mail clerk.
- Transfers classified documents to electronic files for classified material library and archive. Implements appropriate security measures for safeguarding.
- Assist in maintaining security databases, personnel security files, issuing badges, and provide debriefings or exit reviews
- Ensure that, upon project completion, all classified material is either returned to government sponsors or appropriate retention documents are received.
- Process outgoing visit authorization request for ARL personnel and process incoming visits to ARL. Assist with Foreign Visit Requests.
- Maintain security clearances through initial, upgrade and periodic re-investigations; assist with submission of electronic fingerprints through SWFT. Input adverse action reports into government system of record.
- Review and monitor eligibility status for cleared employees enrolled in government continuous evaluation and continuous monitoring programs. 2%
- Other tasks/special projects as assigned by the RSS Assistant Director and the FSO.
Required Qualifications
- HS/GED.
- Seven years demonstrated knowledge of clerical functions including progressively responsible data entry duties involving sensitive or personal information.
- Two years of experience with implementing security policies and procedures related to NISPOM requirements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Customer service oriented.
- Must be able to manage sensitive information and coordinate activities with deadlines.
- This position requires extensive and ongoing Industrial Security training along with participating and retaining membership as a NCMS member. Applicant must complete the CDSE FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities course, complete required training to hold DISS account and take the required training needed to become proficient with SIMS Security software.

US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the Top-Secret level. Employment is contingent on selected applicant submitting application for access and receiving notification of eligibility within a time period specified in the job offer. Employment must begin within 30 days of confirmation of eligibility. Eligibility for access to classified information must continue without interruption during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.
- Experience with managing administrative actions associated with government and industrial security programs.
- Working knowledge and practical experience with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), DISS and SIMS Software.

Salary Range
$67,128 - $88,914+/negotiable depending on qualifications
