Most of the nos in a pipeline were decided before a human opened the file. A parser turned the resume into fields, an AI screen ranked it against the posting, and only what survived reached a recruiter with a stack to get through. Before anyone looks, the applicant tracking system splits the resume into name, roles, dates and skills. A two column layout, a table, or a header it cannot place, and a role falls out. Nothing downstream, human or AI, can score what never made it in.

More employers every year hand the first cut to AI, and it does not just match keywords anymore. It reads the whole thing and asks whether each line is evidence for the role. A duty with no result is not evidence. And with so many resumes now written by AI, they all sound the same, so a specific real number is what stands out.
Paste the posting and the studio shows which of your listed skills appear in it. The score counts every bullet with no number and names the exact ones, and it weights impact heaviest on purpose, because that is what a model is looking for too.

By the time a human reads it, you are up against the resumes that also made it through. They skim for a verb and a result on each line. What you did has to land on the first pass, because there is rarely a second one.
Quill rewrites bullets into a verb and a result, then reads every change back to you in an editable box before anything is saved. Keep one version per role, built from the same accomplishments, so each one leads with what that job cares about.
None of this changes what you did. It makes sure the first two readers cannot lose it. The readiness score, the bullet check and the keyword check are free on every plan, because a formatting problem should never be the reason you did not hear back.

Most rejections never explain themselves, so it is easy to assume the worst about your resume.
