The Opportunity

The Enrollment Services Assistant provides complex administrative and technical support for student records, bar certifications, course and enrollment management, and Law School examinations. The role maintains accurate and confidential student records, processes certifications and enrollment requests, and provides information and guidance to students, faculty, staff, and external organizations. The position also supports exam administration and proctor coordination and serves as an initial point of contact for the Law School Registrar’s Office. The role requires strong attention to detail, organization, judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working with confidential information.

About the Law School

Founded in 1887, Cornell Law School is a top-tier law school. We offer a 3-year JD program for about 200 students per class, a one-year LLM program for about 90 students from countries throughout the world, and a doctoral (JSD) program for about 2-3 new students per year. Cornell Law School has 41 tenured and tenure-track faculty, including 20 with chaired faculty positions; and 15 clinical professors in the legal research and writing program and in clinics at the local, national, and international level. Our faculty is consistently ranked among the top in the country for scholarly productivity and influence, and has pre-eminence in many areas, including quantitative and qualitative empirical legal studies, international and comparative law, and robust doctrinal scholarship in core fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to bar, professional licensing, and student certification requirements.
  • Research and prepare enrollment, prospective graduation, loan deferral, and character and fitness verifications.
  • Maintain tracking and reporting related to student character and fitness and bar exam results.
  • Maintain statistics, prepare charts and reports, and compile annual student character surveys.
  • Create, update, and maintain course and class information in Law School and university databases.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and the public, triaging questions and directing inquiries as appropriate.
  • Assist with the preparation, administration, and processing of Law School examinations.
  • Coordinate semester exam proctoring, including scheduling and providing proctor support.
  • Prepare and maintain exam proctor materials.
  • Conduct semester proctor information sessions.
  • Assist students with examination-related issues and questions.
  • Maintain Registrar’s Office webpages and collaborate with Law IT on website updates.

  • Associate’s degree and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work successfully with highly confidential material under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with differing deadlines and prioritize work on projects happening simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community.

  • Familiarity with university policies and procedures, and the role of the Registrar’s Office at both the university and Law School levels.

  • Experience with WordPress.
  • Experience with CourseLeaf.

This is a full-time (39 hours/week) position that is based in Ithaca, NY and fully on-site. Core hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. The final schedule will be established in collaboration with the supervisor.
